White Grubs and Japanese Beetles, OH MY!

2004 Ends Grubs Asleep.

2004 was the second year of application for Milky Spore. I applied it 3-4 times over my yard each year, and hopefully 2005 will be a year of rejoice against dead grass.

I hope no one is reading these posts and thinking how shallow and vain I am for worrying about my grass, but my grass performs many useful functions for me and others. Since it rains a lot and I live on a slope, my grass keeps the soil together. It absorbs heavy rains. It provides cushioning when my toddler runs and falls. It feels good under bare feet. Provides O2 for the air. Helps keep the air temp down(verses asphalt or concrete). ETC, ETC. So you can see why I have a bug-hate relationship with Japanese Beetles and their White Grubs

Well time to say good bye to 2004! And good by to Lawn Grubs!
