White Grubs and Japanese Beetles, OH MY!

2006 Summer Japanese Beetles

Sitting outside on my deck, I can once again see the haze created by a swarm of Japanese Beetles flying and trying to get a great position to do their Beetle thing on my plants, and the neighbors plants.

There seems to be some problems here. I cannot tell any difference in the concentration of Japanese Beetles on my plants and trees, which were treated with Bayer Advanced™ Tree & Shrub Insect Control Concentrate, and my neighbor's plants and trees. I even wondered if everyone was now using Bayer Advanced™ Tree & Shrub Insect Control Concentrate, but considering the price and the conditions of some yards(yes I can be a yardist!), I doubt this is the truth. Have I thrown away money, about $20 a bottle? From the conditions of the leaves, both mine and my neighbors, it seems that damage is almost nonexistent. Maybe the season is too early for the Japanese Beetles to settle down and start munching. I'll have to monitor this for a few weeks.

Now for fellow home owners, who are bothered by this yearly plant invasion, which results in a white grub invasion to soon follow, all I can say is, You are not alone! Good luck!
